Background
Hurawalhi Resort has a strong interest in the protection of the coral reefs that their business, tourists and island communities depend on. In August 2021, Mars Sustainable Solutions trained their staff in Reef Star restoration, establishing a MARRS web of Reef Stars on the top reef near Kashibo. In November 2021, the restoration area was extended down the reef slope in front of the 5.8 Undersea Restaurant, with regular monitoring activities following each build.

Following these successful installations, Mars Sustainable Solutions will continue to support the team to carry out independent reef restoration programs and provide input to the Hurawalhi Marine Biology Center which offers an understanding of the Maldives' coral reefs and is run in close partnership with the Manta Trust and Prodivers Maldives!
